Services

All physiotherapists working in the clinic are chartered physiotherapists, which means they have the expertise in detailed assessment and diagnosis. All conditions will be thoroughly assessed and treatments will be based on findings in the initial assessment and a personalized home exercise program and advice will be given as part of the treatment sessions.
See below for some of the specific conditions we treat.

Pilates

Pilates was designed by Joseph Pilates, a physical-culturist born in Germany in 1883. He developed a system of exercises during the first half of the 20th century which were intended to strengthen the human mind and body. Joseph Pilates believed that mental and physical health are inter-related. There are six principles which have been widely adopted - and adapted - by the wider community. They are: concentration, control, center, flow, precision and breathing.
At Trim Physiotherapy clinic we combine our knowledge of phsyiotherpay care with our skills in pilates to offer a tailor made, highly skilled professional pilates service. You can feel safe in the knowledge that you are being guided and supported by a Chartered Physiotherapist, who can ensure the exercises are safe for you.

Acupuncture

The concept of Traditional Chinese Medicine is an ancient system of written scripts as far back as 1000BC, founded on the holistic concept of treatment and an acknowledgement of the body's ability to return to its balanced state of health, given the correct stimulus to do so. Acupuncture within physiotherapy is used within the background of clinical and research evidence.
The body has the ability to "self repair; the use of Acupuncture, Acupressure or Electro-Acupuncture enhances the repair mechanism and enables an improved recovery time allowing other physiotherapy treatments such as exercise, muscle strengthening and rehabilitation can achieve effective results.
Acupuncture is used by Physiotherapists, against a background of sound research and evidence, as a means of enhancing pain modulation via the stimulation of the brain and spinal cord to produce NATURAL pain relieving chemicals, such as endorphins; melatonin to promote sleep, serotonin to promote well being, to name but a few. These assist the body's healing process and offer pain relief as a precursor for other manual or exercise therapy.

Women's Health

Women's health includes a wide range of issues that can be treated by physiotherapy. From pregnancy back pain to incontinence problems, physiotherapy can help. Many of the problems of women's health can be traced to the pelvic floor. The Kegel exercise specifically addresses this part of the anatomy. There are other therapies that are effective as well. Our chartered physiotherapists will be able to advise you on what treatment is best suited to your problem.
Another very important area where physiotherapy plays an important role in women's health is during pregnancy. Women who are pregnant are aware of their bodies going through various changes that can be painful. Lower back pain is only one of them. Physiotherapists can help with this. Gentle exercises can be taught to relieve tension in the back.
Trim Physiotherapy Clinic also runs specially designed pilates classes for both pregnant women, and new mums.
